MangoBoost on 4-node MI300X with LLMboost: highest recorded MLPerf Llama 2 70B Offline result (~103K tok/s)

103000 output tokens/s (aggregate; source states 'around 103K tokens/sec')

Metric

Value
103,000
Unit
output tokens/s (aggregate; source states 'around 103K tokens/sec')
Model
Llama 2 70B (MLPerf reference, W8A8 per AMD's Quark recipe)
Methodology
AGGREGATE, MLPerf Inference v5.0 Llama 2 70B Offline scenario (published 2025-04-02), run by PARTNER MangoBoost, not by AMD: a 4-node MI300X cluster driven by MangoBoost's proprietary 'LLMboost' stack. The 103K figure is quoted by AMD as the highest-ever Offline performance recorded in MLPerf for Llama 2 70B at that time. Useful corroborating context from the same AMD v5.0 write-up about the 8xMI325X submission: offline scenario ran at batch sizes near the maximum - 65K for prefill, 2048 for decode - with multi-step decode scheduling (num_scheduler_steps) to amortise CPU scheduling overhead, and a custom load-balancing algorithm across multiple vLLM instances. OMITTED BY SOURCE: node count of the MangoBoost system is 4 nodes but GPU count per node, TP size, quantization scheme actually shipped, engine version, and the exact vLLM flags are all absent. 'Around 103K' is also rounded - do not treat 103000 as an exact measured figure.

notes
The only genuinely third-party (non-AMD-authored) AMD number recorded here: MangoBoost is an AMD OEM partner and LLMboost is their commercial stack, so it is vendor-adjacent, not independent. Still worth recording because it demonstrates MI300X (CDNA3, 192GB) reaching 4-node Llama 2 70B Offline throughput on the order of a single 8-GPU MI355X node. The number is quoted second-hand (AMD's blog citing MangoBoost's own blog), so confidence is capped at 0.7 and the value is stored rounded. This is a W8A8-era result (MLPerf v5.0) and is NOT comparable to the MI355X MXFP4 v6.0 numbers without accounting for both quantization and node count. The v5.0 blog also notes MLPerf Llama 2 70B drew 45 submissions from 16 organizations that round, which is useful context for how selective the leaderboard was.
