Symptom
P40/M40/P100 passive cards have an EPS-12V 8-pin power connector; a standard PCIe 8-pin lead does not fit and adapters are easy to get wrong.
Root cause
Datacenter boards wired CPU-style EPS-12V to the GPU slot. The connector looks like PCIe 8-pin but is keyed/pinned differently.
Workaround
Buy an EPS-12V or a proper GPU-EPS adapter cable; add a 3D-printed fan shroud + high-static fan for the passive heatsink. Confirm the host BIOS does Above-4G decode / ReBAR.
