HIPIFY is the CUDA-to-HIP source translation toolchain, described in its own README as 'a set of tools that you can use to automatically translate CUDA source code into portable HIP C++'. Its documentation site is rocm.docs.amd.com/projects/HIPIFY. Notably the README documents self-hosting the supported-API documentation GENERATED FROM THE TOOL ITSELF: hipify-clang --md --doc-format=full --doc-roc=joint (or --doc-roc=separate, or --csv, or --doc-format=strict|compact), which is what produces the Supported CUDA APIs table. That table is the honest measure of HIP coverage and it is split per API family: CUDA Runtime, CUDA Driver, CUComplex, CUDA Device, CUDA RTC, CUFile (marked with an asterisk in the source table), CUBLAS, CUSPARSE and more, each with separate columns for CUDA, HIP, ROC and HIP&ROC - meaning the translation is NOT uniform: some APIs map to a HIP equivalent, some to a ROC-only equivalent, and some to both. Repo metadata via GitHub API 2026-10-04: created 2020-03-02, pushed 2026-10-04, 729 stars, 107 forks, 36 open issues, default branch amd-develop, license reported NOASSERTION (the repo carries its own LICENSE file rather than a machine-detectable SPDX id).
