Pallas: a JAX kernel language (official JAX documentation)
Fields
sources/pallas-a-jax-kernel-dslNotes
Pallas is a JAX kernel DSL for writing custom TPU and GPU kernels. Provides a programming model for writing high-performance kernels in JAX. NOTE: The original URL (github.com/jax-ml/jax/blob/main/jax/experimental/pallas/README.md) returns 404 - the file has been moved. The Pallas documentation is now at docs.jax.dev. | DEAD-LINK VERIFIED 2026-10-04. THREE independent GET probes (browser UA, curl UA, and a re-check spaced minutes later) each returned HTTP 404 'File not found'. GitHub's own API confirms the directory still exists but no longer contains README.md: api.github.com/repos/jax-ml/jax/contents/jax/experimental/pallas now lists __init__.py, fuser.py, g3doc, mosaic_gpu.py, ops, tpu.py, tpu_sc.py, triton.py - no README. So the DOC moved into docs (docs.jax.dev), as the existing note already suspected. A dead URL is information, not a reason to delete: the Pallas-is-a-JAX-kernel-DSL claim was true when read. NO archived_url is recorded because none was captured; null is the correct value. | 2026-10-05 REPAIR: REPAIRED - URL REPOINTED TO A LIVE REPLACEMENT. Replacement is https://docs.jax.dev/en/latest/pallas/index.html, HTTP 200 on an independent GET probe. CONTENT VERIFIED, not just the status code: the page title is 'Pallas: a JAX kernel language - JAX documentation' and the rendered nav lists Pallas TPU, Pallas Mosaic GPU, Pallas Core-specific Programming, SparseCore Kernel Writing, and 'Writing high-performance GPU kernels with CuTe DSL and JAX'. So the replacement says exactly what this record claims (Pallas is a JAX kernel DSL for custom TPU and GPU kernels) and the record is now a first-party JAX doc rather than a guessed doc move. Why the old URL died: the in-tree README was deleted from jax-ml/jax at main and the prose moved into the docs site. Confidence raised 0.5 -> 0.85 and status draft -> verified because the claim is now carried by a URL that resolves to the right document; kind blog -> whitepaper for the same reason.
