THE FRONTIER OF US ELECTRICITY PRICE DATA, and the reason the supply record us-electricity-industrial-tariff-2024 was refreshed on 2026-10-04. Table 5.3 'Average Price of Electricity to Ultimate Customers: Total by End-Use Sector, 2016 - July 2026 (Cents per Kilowatthour)'. Column order is Residential, Commercial, Industrial, Transportation, Total. VALUES READ ON 2026-10-04, industrial column: Annual Totals 2023 8.04, 2024 8.13, 2025 8.62. Year 2026 monthly industrial: January 9.29, February 8.95, March 8.58, April 8.66, May 8.71, June 9.17, July 9.77. Year to Date 2026 industrial 9.03. Rolling 12 Months Ending in July: 2025 8.40, 2026 8.91. Same-table all-sector total: 2024 12.94, 2025 13.63, rolling 12 months ending July 2026 14.12. RELEVANCE TO GPU SITING, because the trend matters more than the level: the industrial figure rose from 8.13 c/kWh (CY2024) to 8.62 (CY2025), i.e. +6.0% in one year, and the trailing-12-month figure is now 8.91, i.e. +9.6% on CY2024. Electricity is a rising input to inference cost, not a flat one. WHY THIS AND NOT THE ANNUAL REPORT: the Electric Power Annual was verified on 2026-10-04 to state 'With Data for 2024, Release Date: October 16, 2025, Next Release: October 2026' - so CY2024 was NOT neglected data, it was the publication frontier of the annual series when the record was written. Table 5.3 is the monthly series that runs ahead of it. IMPORTANT STATUS CAVEAT, quoted from the table's own footnote: 'Values for 2024 and prior years are final. Values for 2026 and 2025 are preliminary estimates based on a cutoff model sample.' So the CY2025 and 2026 figures above are PRELIMINARY and will be revised; the CY2024 figure is final. Coverage note also on the page: 'Utilities and energy service providers may classify commercial and industrial customers based on either NAICS codes or demands or usage falling within specified limits by rate schedule' - which is why the industrial column is a rate-schedule classification, not a census of data centres, and can absorb crypto-mining load. RE-VERIFICATION BAR: this series updates MONTHLY, so a record built on it should be re-checked at least quarterly and no later than the next release date published on the page.
