Flip, Don't Shuffle: Watermarking LLMs at the Speed of Inference (Stateless Bernoulli Watermarking)

SBW determines green-list membership by a counter-based RNG comparison instead of a vocabulary permutation. States per-token membership complexity drops from O(V log V) for KGW to O(1) for SBW, with SynthID at O(k*m) for m=30 reweighting passes. Reports <1% end-to-end generation overhead at all batch sizes. Model Qwen3-8B (vocab 151,936) on a single RTX 3090 at temperature 1.0, pure sampling without top-p. Self-reported paper; the overhead and complexity figures are its own measurements.
