SynapseAI Core is the only open-source artifact of Habana's SynapseAI API, and it is abandoned. The README's first line is a termination notice: 'PROJECT NOT UNDER ACTIVE MANAGEMENT... Intel has ceased development and contributions... Intel no longer accepts patches to this project', with an invitation to fork it. What it contains: Synapse Core (an implementation of the SynapseAI APIs, some deliberately not implemented), Synapse Backend (executes on Gaudi via the habanalabs driver and the hl-thunk user-space library), a TPC Kernels DB of sample Tensor Processing Core kernels with host-side code, ELFTools for parsing ELF sections and extracting metadata emitted by the TPC LLVM compiler, and tests. Pre-reqs are the whole Gaudi software stack: Linux with the habanalabs driver (kernel 5.7 for Gaudi, 5.15+ for a secured device), hl-thunk, the TPC LLVM compiler, CMake >= 3.5.1, GCC >= 7.5. Its Limitations section is the most valuable text in the repo for understanding the abstraction: operations are SYNCHRONOUS with synchronization through the host, so event APIs like synStreamWaitEvent and synEventCreate are no-ops; the library implements NO operations of its own, so reshape or split must be resolved by the user or by writing a TPC kernel; and it is limited to SINGLE-NODE GRAPHS. That is the opposite of the production SynapseAI behaviour and is precisely why this record is an honest negative rather than a reference.
