Bare SXM/OAM accelerator modules cannot run without a carrier/baseboard

eBay 'cheap' V100/A100/GAUDI2 modules arrive with no PCIe edge connector and no cooler - they will not power on in a workstation.

SXM2/SXM4/OAM modules expect a carrier baseboard (HGX-1/UBB) supplying power, PCIe/CXL and cooling. Adapters exist ($55-205 SXM2, $648-1200 SXM4) but add cost and grey-market risk; Gaudi2 has no PCIe SKU at all.

Budget the carrier: buy PCIe variants for zero-drama, or price the adapter+bundle (~$840-1140 for a working V100 SXM2 bundle; ~$3,150-3,700 landed for A100 SXM4+adapter). Gaudi2 needs the $11,995 8-module tray - effectively unobtainable for solo use.
